The « bridge building » makes it possible to increase the capacity of CIRM while linking the buildings together, thus bringing more coherence and accessibility to the entire site.

This vast real estate development will include: a large conference room with a capacity of 100 seats (Cirm will be able to host two large events simultaneously), a seminar/ videoconference room, and new bedrooms and studios.

The expansion of our academic and residential areas comes primarily as a response to an increasing scientific pressure observed at Cirm in recent years (too many proposals refused due to limited reception capacity). However, this 2R-CIRM project will also makes it also possible to link the buildings together and create a more coherent and accessible site for all.

CIRM’s strategic research plan for 2017-2020 relies on help to create a larger scientific and digital offer.

RESTAURANT

A larger, renovated and more modern restaurant!

150 places; a very light dining room opening on to the terrace and the park; a spacious brand kitchen; a cosy bar…

————

Alongside the extension of our academic facilities, the restaurant has also been totally renovated and enlarged (to go from 90 to 150 customers). The brand new kitchen now meets all safety standards in force in establishments open to the public.

« The project consisted in the renovation and extension of Cirm’s restaurant, » explains AWA Architects. To achieve this, the kitchen has been extended on the north side and we have increased the dining room on the south side.
The South extension is a rectangular volume built in weathering (Corten) steel that is added to the existing façade of the restaurant and that opens onto the park. The idea was to link modernity and tradition. In other words, to give a new lease of life while respecting the characteristic facades of the Bastide.
On the north side, the restaurant opens directly onto the newly-created « village square ». The Corten canopy, the only coloured element along the white facade, comes to indicate the entrance to the restaurant.

The interior of the dining room has been designed in such a way that it heads towards the park. To do this, the sloping false ceilings revitalize the various spaces and frame the view. In addition, the project restores the nobility of the existing Shed, which was hidden under false ceiling slabs. This provides a new, significant amount of light, called cathedral light, over the entire dining room. The interior flow has also been studied to delimit traffic so that it can run continuously through the restaurant. »Les acteurs du projet
